Andrew Garth took up his appointment as British Ambassador to Slovakia in October 2014. His previous roles in working for the British government included both, political and trade positions – starting in 1990 his career in diplomacy as an Attache in Warsaw, followed by position of First Secretary (Trade Development) in Romania (2004-2007) and leading of Political & Economic section in Bangkok, Thailand. In 2010-2014, Mr Garth had been managing Commercial Development Unit of the UK’s Department for International Trade. The Ambassador represents Her Majesty The Queen and the UK government in the country to which they are appointed. They are responsible for the direction and work of the Embassy and its Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services. Mr Andrew Garth is married, and has three children.
